BACKGROUND: We met the talented and joyful 11-year-old Penny Whistle-player, Marnus from Parys, on Good Morning Angels on Wednesday. His family had fallen on hard times, with both parents losing their jobs, but their love for one another and music have kept their spirits up. After hearing Marnus busking in the streets of Parys to support his family, Jacaranda FM listener, Marc, wrote to Good Morning Angels requesting assistance on their behalf. Econo Foods will assist the family with weekly food hampers until the end of the year. They will also help his dad, Tienie, to renew his permit and find a trucking job and Good Morning Angels is assisting with rent for the next three months.

After hearing their story on Breakfast with Martin Bester, more Angel help has come in for Marnus and his family:

* The team at Prestprops Real Estate (Jo-Ann Nel) has offered to assist the family with a donation of R10,000 towards necessities.

Wieland South Africa (Gert Naudé) will donate R20,000 to pay for rent and utilities for the family.

* Bernard Britt has offered his mom’s piano to Marnus - to pursue his music dream. Bernard says his mom passed away two years ago and he knows that she would be thrilled if her piano could give passionate musician, Marnus, the opportunity to play.
