Good Morning Angels Follow-Up: More good news for mother and autistic daughter
Updated | By Breakfast with Martin Bester
Little Paige Faith Havenga, who is autistic, has a problem with her feet, and Dr Basson agreed on helping her free of charge with the assistance of the Operation Healing Hands team.
BACKGROUND: We met Cathrine Havenga from Primrose on the East Rand during the Good Morning Angels Festive Edition with Roman’s Pizza in December last year.
Havenga reached out to Good Morning Angels after her husband Dirk's unexpected passing in October 2021.
They ran a maintenance business together that provided their income and means to care for their four-year-old daughter, Paige.
She is autistic and still wears nappies and also has a problem with her feet that needs surgery and treatment. When Dirk died, so did their business and income. Romans’ Pizza assisted Cathrine with R35,000 to help them get back on their feet.
Cathrine is not Paige’s biological mother, but she is her mother in every other sense of the word - she loves her little daughter dearly and has devoted her life to her.

She has taken Paige to several doctors and therapists for treatment of her feet and Paige was scheduled for a botox and cast procedure at a State Hospital in December last year.
However, Paige was supposed to be admitted the evening before the procedure and Cathrine was not allowed to stay over with her - which was a huge concern for Cathrine, as Paige has never left her side. “I cannot leave my autistic daughter to spend the night alone. She will scream and cry all night and the nurses would not know what to do.”
Good Morning Angels contacted our friends at Operation Healing Hands for assistance.
