Good Morning Angels: Family of three healing after head-on collision with drunk driver

BACKGROUND: On the afternoon of 2 November 2020, the lives of Marius, Monica, and their 10-month-old baby, Kyle, from Randfontein were changed in an instant. In an attempt to avoid a drunk driver, they were in a head-on collision. All three of them sustained serious injuries and at first, Marius believed they had lost their son. The young family does not have medical aid, but family members assisted to have baby Kyle taken to a private hospital. He had three skull fractures, but thankfully pulled through.

Both Marius and Monica were taken to a state hospital and have both since been released. Monica was initially not able to walk or speak. She is currently in a rehab facility where she is slowly starting to walk again. She still cannot speak and is only able to make three sounds. Marius is staying with his mom. He has a shattered knee, suffered broken bones, and a fractured skull and he’s in constant pain. He has to go for more scans and treatment. Little Kyle has also been released from hospital and is staying with Monica’s mom - the family has not been together since the accident and there are many more months of healing ahead. Neither Marius nor Monica would be able to work or earn a living - it’s not even clear when they would be living under the same roof as a family again. Their family and friends have assisted with many of the costs, but the financial burden is proving to be as big as the physical and emotional trauma they have suffered. That’s why many friends as well as Marius’s mom, Gerda, wrote to Good Morning Angels.

Good Day

I would like to put in a request for anyone who would please help this family in need... 

Baby Kyle, father Marius and mommy Monica was hit by a drunk driver in Randfontein earlier today and mommy is under sedation, father broken leg and pelvis with minor injuries but baby Kyle has a brain fracture as well as a broken bone in the neck. Baby Kyle has only woken up a bit late tonight, but will need to move to a government hospital by tomorrow morning as they don't have medical aid, they have to do a operation on baby Kyle that is going to cost R500 000 which they can't afford. 

As a friend I am not asking for the help or funds, but if there is a Dr willing to help this baby. He is only 6 months old and he hasn't asked to be here, he has his whole life ahead of him. I am also asking for each person who is reading or listening to this message to please keep this family in your prayers tonight.
