Checking in on the Angels Hotel and their big renovations
BACKGROUND: In September last year, our friends at the Round Table and Build-it committed to helping the Angel Hotel in Pretoria expand and improve their facilities to the value of R 175 000. This very special place has been a day care, after school and boarding school facility for children with special needs since 2008. Hettie and Lourens Botha, parents to a daughter with cerebral palsy, along with their team of seven helpers provide special care for 39 children from all over the country and continent, who have special needs including physical and mental challenges like cerebral palsy and downs syndrome.
They live in a small section of the house - across the road from the Alma School for physically challenged children in Pretoria. Of the 39 children they look after, 19 live in full time. They do not get any state funding and needed to expand their facility to better care for the children - ranging in age from one to 25 years. The quote they got for the building project was a whopping R 175 000 ... that the Round Table and Build-it sponsored in full. See the pics below of before, during and after the building project.
