Good Morning Angels: 3-year old Imke and her family need more help to fight for her life
Updated | By Lee-Roy Wright
We met the Geldenhuys family in February this year. At the time, Ilona had just given birth to twin baby girls, in the same hospital, where her 3-year old daughter, Imke was receiving treatment for very aggressive cancer. The family are from Tzaneen, and the community has been very supportive. Imke yesterday received a major operation to remove a tumour – but local doctors have told the family that this is the end of the road as far as medical options in South Africa are concerned.

BACKGROUND: We met the Geldenhuys family in February this year. The family received news from Australia, that doctors there believe they can treat Imke – but this would come at an enormous cost: around R6-million rand !!
Several fund raising events are being organised, but time is running out and they funds need to be raised by the end of this month.

Dear Good Morning Angels
My name is Darius Geldenhuys, father of Imke.
Our daughter Imke is 3years old, has been diagnosed with Neuroblastoma High Risk Stage 4 on the 2nd of February.... They found a large mass above left kidney arising from the left suprarenal fossa measuring 10 x 8 x 11cm in diameter it did also spread to her bone marrow, after many chemo sessions and further CT Scans was done...new report 15/04/2016 stated that there is large partially calcified mass in the left suprarenal region. Measures now 5.5 x 2.7 by 2.9cm. Which shrunk miraculously we are so thankful and it was very good news to us.
But: Next step for us is surgery and then BMT (bone marrow transplant) ... we believe we are currently at the best possible Oncology Pedriatic Hospital which were so good to us and currently 3 of the best Pedriatic Oncologist in South Africa that is looking after Imke, but were now told the devastating news of no proven evidence of a successful Neuroblastoma High Risk stage 4 BMT or even a Survivor (through his experience and knowledge) we were told by our Oncologist 2weeks ago).
We immediately started doing research literally around the clock...& The best hope for Imke & for survival is abroad & we urgently need funds to make it happen. In the US & in Australia they have proven evidence of Survivors & more advanced Immunotherapy treatment etc that is needed...& proven evidence & successful BMT is done abroad. They have the experience & given us Hope for Imke.
Thank you for reading this,
The Geldenhuys family
