GMA Coronavirus Support: Pensioner’s bill gets settled during lockdown

For some businesses, Level 4 of the lockdown has unlocked the doors to an income, but many customers are now in a position where they cannot spend - even on essentials.

BACKGROUND: A worker at an optometrist in Pretoria was so touched by the frank honesty of one of their clients that she wrote to Good Morning Angels on his behalf for assistance. Antoinette Lategan called pensioner Louwrens Erasmus to collect his glasses that were made just before lockdown. His response was that he does not have a cent to his name at the moment to pay for them and that it will have to wait. Louwrens and his wife have a guesthouse and have not had any income for the past two months - with no bookings for the next three months either. They still pay their staff and help their children, but for now, Louwrens opted for his glasses to wait.

ORIGINAL REQUEST:

Dankie, Antoinette.
