World Mental Health Day 2022 - What is it about?

With many crises in public life and in personal life, now is as good a time as any to check in on mental health and explain what exactly World Mental Health Day is all about. Journalist Christelle du Toit explains why the day is important.
The World Health Organisation has established that the 10th of October will be World Mental Health Day, and the theme for this year is "Make mental health and wellbeing for all a global priority".

The day was first recognised on the 10th of October 1992 by the World Health Organisation and its over 150 member nations.
World Mental Health Day is focused on bringing attention to all matters concerning mental health because many people or people around them suffer from some mental illness.

It is important to address mental health and to make the conversation around the issue less taboo so that the people who need help do not feel stgmatised.
