As some of us (especially Rob) have predicted, there was excitement, upset, and everything in between.

If we were to ask, "Do you know what SONA is?" You would probably confidently answer: "The State of the Nation Address".

While we all know that SONA is a significant event that South Africans wait for in anticipation every year, do any of us really know what is going on when we tune in or follow along on social media?
According to the South African Government website: "The address is an important milestone as it brings certainty to the country’s political, social and economic landscape. It demonstrates that South Africa’s democracy remains robust. In the address, President Cyril Ramaphosa will set out government’s key policy objectives and deliverables for the year ahead, flag challenges and outline interventions to unlock our nation’s potential."
But if there's anything we've learned in this country, it is to expect the unexpected. There is also no shame in admitting to yourself that you don't really know what should or shouldn't be said during the proceedings, what are we hoping will be addressed, and what South Africans actually hope will be achieved through this address.
