The world’s smallest chef is ready for the biggest debut in the city of gold
Updated | By Breakfast with Martin Bester
Le Petit Chef has chosen Johannesburg as his 29th city aboard to join him in 3D world travel, accompained by a six course 'date night on steriods.'
After astounding diners from London to Toronto to Dubai, Le Petit Chef of
DinnerTimeStories fame has voyaged to the southern hemisphere for the very first time.
The six-course dining and entertainment experience will soon be at a tabletop near you as
he has set up residence at the Faircity Quatermain Hotel in Morningside, Sandton.
Bookings are officially open but be quick – Le Petit Chef is a pop-up restaurant, and so he
disappears at will. Join the tiniest chef in the world on a colossal 3D immersive dining
spectacular as we track his journey through the Silk Route of Asia, following in the footsteps
of the intrepid explorer, Marco Polo.
The spice-infused six-course dining experience will begin with a complimentary glass of champagne with diners also having the option of a wine pairing, all especially chosen to complement the dishes served. This is an experience to be shared at communal tables of eight and twelve, with only 52 guests per show (while still boasting this being the largest global event yet). The menu is never disclosed beforehand but rest assured that award- winning Executive Chef Tristan Latouf will take care of the culinary delights of the evening. There will be vegetarian, vegan and Halaal-and-Kosher-friendly options too. Everything the diner will be experiencing is authentically sourced from the country of origin, making this the most affordable way to travel and taste your way across a continent, visiting Arabia, India, the peaks of the Himalayas and finally, China, before returning to the point of origin, Marseilles, France.
Bravo Le Petit Chef👏👏

The entertainment has been described by Kendall Gilfillan as an “immersive dining experience that combines cutting-edge 3D technology, visual artistry, theatrical storytelling, fresh ingredients, unique flavours, sounds and tastes.” The brainchild of Filip Sterckx and Antoon Verbeeck of Skullmapping fame, along with concept creator, Nadine Beshir, Le Petit Chef has been brought to South Africa by Paul Rouessart.
One of Le Petit Chef’s sponsors is the luxurious Air France who has added some additional incentive (as if an Instagram-worthy six-course meal and techno-dazzling entertainment while the tiniest chef prepares your meal on your plate before you aren’t incentive enough?). All patrons are automatically entered into a draw to win two flights with Air France to Marseilles, the home of Le Petit Chef. The draw will happen when Le Petit Chef packs his bags, but he hates to plan travel in advance. Book early on Computicket for the bragging rights – the show truly needs to be seen to be believed.
Ticket Details:
Earlybird: R 995.00 per adult and R 845.00 for children over 12
Standard: R 1225.00 per adult and R 995.00 for children over 12
Meticulously crafted to be an occasion to remember, Le Petit Chef is for “adventurers who reject monotony and who dare to be different.” The Faircity Quatermain Hotel is running dinner, bed and breakfast specials with singles at R 1995.00 and R 2990.00 for couples sharing.
Corporate bookings, entertainment and personalised branding can be incorporated and accommodated.
Le Petit Chef is even willing to go home with his patrons by bringing his Le Petit Chef Du Maison experience into the home or any event space of the client’s choosing.
