This is why you should not change your birth year on Twitter

You were promised new timeline colour options, however, many users were blocked from the social networking site.
Many Twitter users were lured into changing their birth year on Twitter to 2007 to unlock new colour schemes, but they became victims to one of social media's latest hoaxes.
What ends up happening is that your profile gets shut down because you're suddenly signalling to Twitter that you're underage.
The required age for making a Twitter account is 13, according to the platform's terms of service.

It seems that the viral lie stems from a tweet sent on Monday evening that received more than 20,000 retweets.
Though it's unclear how many people fell victim to the trick, Twitter tweeted a response to the call-to-action on Wednesday, saying that there are no new colour schemes.
We’ve noticed a prank trying to get people to change their Twitter birthday in their profile to unlock new color schemes. Please don’t try this. We don't have different color schemes based on your birthday.
