Whisky worth more than R1-million: Would you try it?

A whisky measured to be the world’s most rare and valuable is going under the auction hammer next week.

The Macallan Valerio Adami whisky bottle - which is close to 100-years-old, will come up for auction at Bonhams in Edinburgh next week.

The whisky will fetch more than a million rand. It is described as “the Holy Grail of whisky”. Many people will flock to the sale on October 3.

The whisky was created in 1926 and bottled in 1986. Whisky lover and Jacaranda FM sports presenter, Elma Smit, is very excited about this whisky and wishes she could just have a taste!

According to The Press and Journal's Martin Green, a Bonhams’ whisky specialist in Edinburgh: “Its exceptional rarity and quality puts it in a league of its own, and the world’s most serious whisky collectors will wait patiently for many years for a bottle to come on to the market."
