Sometimes it might feel like you need a full winter outfit as you enter the arctic temperatures of one of the most well-known food retailers in South Africa.
Woolworths is notoriously known for its cold temperatures, but a new study found that it might not be as cold as you think - and one retailer might even be colder!

Business Insider South Africa ran a study to measure the temperatures of three major retailers' fresh food sections.
The study found that Pick n Pay's fresh food section came in as the coldest of the three chains, at 18.3°C. Woolworths was a tiny bit warmer, at 18.33°C, and Checkers came in at 18.45°C.
According to Business Insider, there is a consensus that the average room temperature in South Africa is 22°C, but in order to keep cold food fresh, retailers have to keep it below that.

Considering that the temperatures were only taken at the fresh food sections of these retailers, we still argue that Woolies has colder shops as a whole.
