Recently, tennis legend Roger Federer attended a Coldplay show in Zurich, Switzerland.

During the performance, Federer was welcomed on stage by lead singer Chris Martin to perform with the band on stage.

Martin made-up a story about how the tennis legend was part of the British rock band for three months.

“In 1996, we had five members, but the fifth member played percussion and he stayed with us for about three months, and then he said, screw this. I am gonna go and become the greatest tennis player of all time. But today, he is here to play percussion again.”

Federer shared many pictures of the performance on his Instagram account, including his performance, backstage photographs, and videos from the event.

Wimbledon's Centre Court also recently paid tribute to the Swiss great before the start of play, as he returned to the scene of some of his greatest triumphs.

The crowd gave him a prolonged standing ovation as he entered the royal box, which threatened to upstage the first match of the championship for Elena Rybakina.

Federer appeared to make a rare fault on Tuesday as he seemed to go in for a kiss with the Princess of Wales.

Federer touched a clapping Kate Middleton on the back and leaned forward as if was about to kiss her on the cheek.

While the Princess and Federer are close friends, the move is not considered protocol when greeting a member of the royal family.

Tune in to the 'Breakfast with Martin Bester', weekdays from 06:00 - 09:00. Stream the show live here or download our mobile app here.
