Traveller in Australia fined R33,000 for storing fast food!

A traveller from Indonesia was hit with a $2,664 (around R33,000) fine in Australia when border security guards discovered two McMuffins and a ham croissant secretly stashed in his backpack.
According to CBS News, a biosecurity detector dog named Zinta sniffed out the egg-and-meat contraband at Darwin Airport.

The man was then fined almost R33,000 as Australia has strict biosecurity laws designed to protect the country's large agriculture industry from imported pests and diseases.
"This will be the most expensive Maccas meal this passenger ever has," said Australian agriculture minister Murray Watt.

Australian authorities are currently screening all meat imports from Indonesia due to an outbreak of Foot and Mouth Disease in the country. This disease, although not harmful to humans, is a highly contagious viral disease in livestock.
