Hollywood megastar Tom Cruise talks about 'Ubuntu' in recent speech
Actor Tom Cruise credited South Africa for teaching him about 'Ubuntu' while filming in the country.
Tom Cruise has been spending a lot of time in the South African news headlines since he started filming in the country in 2022.
After returning to America, the action star yet again made headlines when he credited Mzansi for teaching him about 'Ubuntu'.

During an awards ceremony acceptance speech, Cruise spoke about SA's beauty and the meaning of 'Ubuntu'.
“I just got back from filming in South Africa. It’s an absolutely stunning country, and there’s a beautiful philosophy, it’s ‘Ubuntu’, that originated there. And it is the idea that humanity is based on the plural, not the singular," he said.
He used his new teachings as part of his acceptance speech at the 34th Producers Guild Awards, which was held on Saturday, February 25, where he was awarded the David O. Selznick Award for his 'Outstanding Body of Work in Motion Pictures'.

“‘Ubuntu’ means essentially, I am because we are. And so, I thank all of you. I am because you are. Thank you.”
In February 2022, Cruise started filming in Mpumalanga and Limpopo where he used Hoedspruit as a base. Later he moved on to KwaZulu-Natal’s Drakensberg area to continue filming.
