This South African city is the worst in the world for expats
A South African city was ranked one of the worst cities in the world for expats!
According to the InterNations Expat Insider for 2022, Johannesburg was ranked the worst city in the world for expats to live in.
The annual survey by InterNations gathered information from expats from various destinations.

This included expats' views on:
- Quality of Life;
- Ease of Settling In;
- Working Abroad;
- Personal Finance; and
- Expat Essentials.
According to Business Tech, a total of 11,970 expats participated in the 2022 survey, representing 177 nationalities and living in 181 countries or territories.
South Africa was included in the survey after meeting the required 50 participants it takes to be considered for the list.
Two South African cities, Cape Town and Johannesburg, were included in a list of 50 cities across the world for expats to live.

Cape Town came in 32nd on the overall list, and Johannesburg came in last at 50th.
Business Tech reported that safety and security were the biggest worries for expats living in South Africa.
