While shaking hands for longer may appear to be good manners, a study disagrees. 

A study found that handshakes longer than seven seconds could cause anxiety.

Researchers found that a handshake is considered 'normal' when it lasts for three seconds or less.

Researchers also found that people showed less interactional enjoyment after a longer handshake.

They will also laugh less and anxiety will increase. 

When a handshake lasts for less than three seconds, people feel more natural.
