SANParks appoints first-ever female Head Ranger for the Kruger National Park

Congratulations to Cathy Dreyer!
Kruger National Park, in north-eastern South Africa, is one of Africa’s largest game reserves. Wild animals include the Big 5 and many other animals make their home at the Kruger National Park, it's truly a magnificent place to visit.
This week the Kruger National Park (KNP) made history by appointing its first-ever female Head Ranger, Cathy Dreyer.

Cathy started her career over 17 years ago at the age of 22 with South African National Parks as a conservation student. She has an exemplary record in conservation management and walked away with the Tusk Award for Conservation in Africa, 2016. She will be starting her new position on the 1st of May 2021.

KNP released a statement congratulating Dreyer. The Managing Executive of the KNP, Gareth Coleman said, “She brings with her a wealth of conservation management experience and in conserving rhinos in particular. She has proven herself as a dedicated conservationist and a law enforcement officer".
