Juan said it was the first time someone so close to him died due to COVID-19, taking to Instagram to explain how heartbroken he feels.
Juan, in a state of disbelief, said: "I just got the bad news that I lost one of my good friends. He was only 37 years old. Bassie and I spent a lot of time together in the bush, in front of the fire and with the guitar and he always assisting me with the words for my songs. The first song we did together was ‘Whiskey en jy’ and this morning I will play it in memory of him. Rest in peace my friend. It's unreal I cannot believe it."
