Refuse has been piling up in many parts of Ekurhuleni as service delivery has ground to a halt.
Ekurhuleni residents were left angry after service delivery workers failed to collect refuse in the metro, leading to landfills piling up.
Some Benoni and Kempton Park residents report that refuse hasn't been collected for weeks.

Due to the delayed collection of refuse, "mini-dumping" sites have been popping up in the metro, and residents are reporting on the possible health risks this could have.

According to reports from News Cast Editor Gerda de Sousa, many residents are forced to pay R50 for the private removal of their refuse due to the failing service.
