The popular British kids' show 'Peppa Pig' has introduced its first same-sex couple.

The characters, two lesbian polar bears, were introduced after a long-awaited petition to include more LGBTQ representation in the show.

An episode that aired on Tuesday in the United Kingdom shows young 'Penny the Polar Bear' talking about her "two mummies".

“I live with my mummy and my other mummy,” Penny said.

According to NBC News, this comes after a petition in 2019 for the show to include more LGBTQ representation in the show.

“Children watching Peppa Pig are at an impressionable age, and excluding same-sex families will teach them that only families with either a single parent or two parents of different sexes are normal,” the petition says. “Peppa Pig is not just for entertainment, children are inevitably learning from it too.”

Another popular TV show has also been praised for its inclusivity.

'Thomas and Friends' is said to introduce an autistic character to the show.

Bruno will be making his debut on the show this month and will be a regular on the show.

According to CNN Entertainment, the "joyful, pun-making brake car" will be voiced by two autistic actors in the UK and USA, respectively.
