'Parents must be allowed to punish their children' - President of ACDP Rev Meshoe
MP and President of the ACDP, Reverend Kenneth Meshoe, joined Breakfast with Martin Bester for a chat after his controversial opinion on corporal punishment hit the media.
Reverend Kenneth Meshoe started out as a teacher before embarking on a successful career as a pastor and political leader.
MP Rev Meshoe founded the African Christian Democratic Party (ACDP) in December 1993, believing that Christians should be in positions of leadership at the forefront of change in South Africa, to ensure that our country is a blessed and prosperous nation.

Apart from a brief absence between June and November 2013, Rev Meshoe has been a member of the National Assembly since 1994.
MP Rev Meshoe joined Breakfast with Martin Bester after being in the news recently for his controversial opinion on corporal punishment.
MP Rev Meshoe called for the constitution to be changed so as to allow for corporal punishment in schools and at home to be re-introduced - to deal with the rising tide of sexual abuse, drugs, and violence in schools.
"When crimes are committed by kids, it speaks volumes about our constitution," he said.
"Crimes are being committed by kids - years ago, things like this never happened. Kids are even beating up teachers. If we allow this to continue, nothing will change. We need to allow corporal punishment.
"Parents must discipline their own children - abuse and punishment are not the same."
