The Coronavirus is bringing the world to a standstill.

Virologist Dr Marcelle Myburgh joined Breakfast with Martin Bester to debunk rumours and inaccuracies surrounding the very serious issue.

"We are still trying to learn more about this virus," Dr Myburgh said.

"More research is needed to understand this virus. We know too little about it. There is no treatment yet and I really don't think the virus was created in a lab.

"This virus is still very young so there hasn't been enough time to do research. However, the Coronavirus is an enveloped virus which means soaps and sanitizers can kill it. So, keep washing your hands and don't touch your face.

"People must stay calm and protect themselves."
