Mental health and anxiety advice during lockdown by professional wellness coach

Dr Lee joined Breakfast with Martin Bester to give advice on how to deal with the uncertain world we’re living in.
Dr Lee has a Doctorate in Human Resources and is a professional coach.
Many South Africans are facing challenges during the lockdown period which are resulting in unhealthy stress and anxiety.
Martin Bester admits, for him, the lockdown was tougher in the beginning and he has gotten used to it with time: "I remember the first couple of weeks I was anxious all the time."
Dr Lee provides a behavioural form of strength-based support for adults who are having a difficult time.

"There’s underlying anxiety through all of this because our world is anxious," Dr Lee says.
"People are in different ways responding to their anxiety. Anger is one of those. Of course, the biggest one for people to deal with anxiety and not being in control of plans and dreams.
"We have to be careful of what we read and armchair experts.
"I find what helps people hugely is to have gratitude. A lot of sadness and grief is about people who don’t have the privilege."
