A recent video of Jake Waleri, 22, wrestling a Burmese Python has taken the internet by storm.

The video, taken in the Big Cypress National Preserve in Florida, shows Waleri grabbing the almost six-meter python by the neck after the snake lunged at him with open jaws.

Waleri wrestled with the snake for a few more moments in the video before he gets assistance from others to overpower the female snake and wrap tape around its jaws.

This is the longest Burmese python ever found, and according to Sky News, if one were to put the snake’s length in perspective, the snake is as long as an adult giraffe is tall.

You might be thinking to yourself, but why wrestle the snake?

After the snake's capture, it was killed as recommended by wildlife officials.

Burmese pythons are nonvenomous constrictors that are an invasive species in Florida.

According to CBS News, these animals pose a significant threat to other wildlife in the state, as they eat mammals, birds, and even alligators, while having few natural predators besides humans.

Considering its environmental risk, the state recommended that the snakes be caught and humanely killed.
