Joburg golf club reaches out to members whose taps have run dry

Golf clubs have a bad rep for using too much water to ensure the greens stay, well, green, but a Gauteng golf club is changing all of that and doing something good.

The Randpark Golf Club is inviting all of its members whose taps have run dry to come and use the facilities to take a hot shower and enjoy a cooked meal.

Randburg Golf Club general manager Francois Swart joined Martin Bester on Breakfast for a chat.

Residents have been dealt a double blow following the fire at the Eikenhof substation in the south of the city.

Johannesburg Water and Rand Water get their electricity - to pump water to certain areas - from Eikenhof.

Joburg Water says it had been forced to switch off three reservoirs on Tuesday morning. 

Spokesperson Isaac Dhludhlu says water supply is currently being throttled, due to the high demand but no means of supply.
