This is how much you must pay your domestic worker

In recent days The Department of Employment and Labour has decided to increase its efforts to ensure that employers adhere to the minimum wage.

The national minimum wage has increased from R21,69 to R23,19 as of 1 March 2022. So, if one works 160 hours a month, they should be paid R3,710 for the month.
Despite this being the absolute minimum workers should be paid, data published by cleaning service SweepSouth in 2021 showed a dramatic decrease in earnings for workers due to the pandemic.

According to the same data, a shocking one in five workers is actually paid less than R1,500.
