Home Affairs official gets the recognition she deserves
Updated | By Breakfast with Martin Bester
Home affairs offices are far from being fun places to visit, but Nosipho Mkhupheka is trying to change that.
Exactly a month ago, The Portfolio Committee on Home Affairs called for officials working front of house and interacting with clients to be banned from using their cellphones during working hours.

However, Marius Botha ran into Nosipho Mkhupheka in KwaZulu-Natal. Nosipho works at the Scottburgh home affairs.
Marius Botha explained, ‘Today (Friday) at 16:00 all her colleagues left their workstations and went home. Mrs Mkhupheka stayed and help the last 40 customers all on her own and with a smile on her face!!! You are my hero. South Africa needs more people like you. Thank you. We salute you.”
The post has been shared more than 12,000 times for all the right reasons!
The post was seen by Nosipho’s daughter and she proudly said, ‘Wow that’s my mommy ❤️She’s like that in real life. She’s a person you can call anytime and she always does her best to help others. Can’t wait to screengrab this and send it to her to ensure she knows she’s appreciated.’
