Here's why you have to be 21 to buy whipped cream in New York
A new law in New York could prevent people under the age of 21 from buying cans of whipped cream!
Most of us have experienced the bliss of filling our mouths with delicious whipped cream.
Unfortunately, those under 21 in New York will not be able to purchase the delicious treat.

According to NBC News, this law was passed nine months ago in an attempt to reduce possible nitrous oxide (laughing gas) abuse.
Nitrous oxide is an "odourless, colourless, non-flammable gas" found in whipped cream cans. It is also commonly abused as a narcotic.
NBC News added that it is actually the cartridge or charger in certain whipped cream products which contain nitrous oxide that is being banned from sale.

Some New York residents were asked to present their IDs when attempting to purchase whipped cream following the new law's requirements.
State Sen. Joseph Addabbo said to NBC News that "carding [people] over canned whipped cream was never the intent of the bill".
