"Goblin Mode" was revealed as the Oxford Dictionary's Word of the Year for 2022. Here is what it means...
The first word of the year that was chosen by public vote was announced by the Oxford Dictionary.
The word "Goblin Mode" is defined as "a type of behaviour which is unapologetically self-indulgent, lazy, slovenly, or greedy, typically in a way that rejects social norms or expectations”.

According to BBC news, "Goblin Mode" was one of three potential candidates for the word of the year.
The new word of the year won with a landslide 318,956 votes, making up 93% of the total votes.

Previous winners include "Vax" (2021), "Climate Emergency" (2019), and "Toxic" (2018).
