GoodLuck’s Jules writes emotional open letter
Updated | By Breakfast with Martin Bester
GoodLuck is a South African electronic music band that has been entertaining crowds for just over a decade!
The electronic group was formed in 2011 by Ben Peters and Juliet Harding. The band blends instrumentation with electric dance music - with a truly South African edge!
However, the instruments gathered dust during the COVID-19 lockdown as the entertainment industry could not perform and when they could, it was at a fraction of what they could previously do.

The lead singer of the band, Juliet (Jules), spoke to Breakfast with Martin Bester after posting a letter on social media. In the letter, Jules emotionally pens what she is going through while she cannot work.
The musician said: “This is not the cheery, optimistic Jules you are used to but I am going to be brave, vulnerable and try to get this down on paper. The forgotten industry. This weekend has been rough, for many reasons but it’s 3am and I can’t sleep so I am going to write this down and speak my truth into the world to see if anyone has any ideas or thoughts they would like to share - my mother always said ‘a problem shared is a problem halved’ so let’s see if anyone is listening.”
Jules told Martin Bester: “We are the forgotten industry during the COVID-19 pandemic. We are all resilient but then I also think unfortunately don’t take the industry seriously.”

The musician also provided ways in which the public can support the entertainment industry.
