FlySafair’s marketing manager provides important information regarding flights during lockdown
Updated | By Breakfast with Martin Bester
Domestic flights for business purposes have been given the green light by government.
Transport Minister Fikile Mbalula recently announced that airplanes will be allowed to operate at full capacity, citing that the risk of Covid-19 infection onboard a commercial passenger airliner is lower than in many other confined spaces.
FlySafair’s Kirby Gordon joined Breakfast with Martin Bester on Wednesday, 3 June, and clarified some important information.
Upon presenting a permit to prove a passenger is traveling for business, the airline will offer passengers the option of "blocking" the middle seat as domestic flights resume during level 3 of the lockdown.

"The fee to block out the middle seat is R750 per person so either person on either side would be eligible for that amount.”
FlySafair says it understands that some people might be nervous flying during the coronavirus pandemic and will offer facemasks and sanitiser at a cost of R20 extra.
"We understand, of course, some customers would prefer to be able to implement some social distancing,” says FlySafair’s Kirby Gordon.

"So on our website we have a facility available on the seats selection page where you can ask to pay a small fee to have the middle seat in your row blocked out.”
