"Everyone is helpless" - KZN resident amid heavy flooding
East Coast Radio breakfast show producer, WR van der Merwe spoke to Martin Bester about the current situation in KwaZulu-Natal amid heavy rains and flooding.
The government's disaster management committee met on Saturday after the South African Weather Services issued a Level 10 weather warning for parts of the province.
It is the highest weather warning possible.

In some parts of KwaZulu-Natal, water levels on the roads and rivers reached dangerously high levels and are projected to continue to rise.
The heavy rains are only expected to diminish by Monday.
Snow warnings have also been issued for some parts of the province.
Breakfast with Martin Bester spoke to East Coast Radio breakfast show producer WR van der Merwe who had to evacuate his apartment.
"It's been a rough week. I think everyone is just helpless."

"I was lucky enough to leave on my own and I am staying with a friend."

According to Jacaranda FM News, the government, through the departments such as Social Development, Defence Force, South African Police Service, and other social partners are working with disaster management teams across the province to monitor the high-risk areas.
The Department of Cooperative Governance in KZN has urged residents in flood-hit areas not to wait until the last possible moment before moving to safety.
