Nine items becoming more expensive that will affect your budget

Recently, Statistics SA released the latest consumer price index which showed that annual inflation was holding steady at 5.7%.

However, the monthly rate is under pressure from rising food and transportation costs, increasing by 0.6% between January and February.

The largest annual price increases were recorded for the following nine items:
Oils and fats: +22.7%
Electricity and other fuels: +14.1 %
Meat: +8.6%
Vegetables: +7.7%
Wine: +6.9%
Hotels: +6.3%
Restaurants: +6.1%
Fish: +5.3%
Alcoholic beverages: +5.2%
