Prince Harry, Meghan Markle to sue British tabloid
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have hit back at what they’ve described as bullying from the tabloid media in the UK.
“I have been a silent witness to her private suffering for too long. To stand back and do nothing would be contrary to everything we believe in,” Prince Harry said in a strongly-worded statement on Tuesday.
They have filed a law suit against Associated Newspapers over the “instructive and unlawful publication” of a private letter.
A legal representative of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle said the media group refused to resolve the matter amicably and stand by “publish[ing] false and deliberately derogatory stories”.
The case is being privately funded by the couple and should the court rule in their favour the proceeds will be donated to an anti-bullying charity.

Most striking in the statement is Harry’s reference to his late mother Princess Diana.
“Because my deepest fear is history repeating itself.
“I lost my mother and now I watch my wife falling victim to the same powerful forces.”

The legal action is against the Mail on Sunday after the newspaper allegedly unlawfully published one of Markle’s private letters aimed at the newspaper’s coverage of her.
“Put simply, it is bullying, which scares and silences people. We all know this isn’t acceptable, at any level,” Harry said.
