Springboks excited at prospect of capacity crowds
Springbok prop Trevor Nyakane says the players cannot wait to play in front of packed stadiums again when they take on Wales in July.
Government has repealed the last of the Covid-19 regulations, including the limits on the number of people who may attend a public event.
This means the Springboks will be able to play in front of capacity crowds when they take in Wales in three Test matches at home.
Nyakane says the team has really missed having fans in the stadiums.
“I don’t think people understand how much the crowd means to us, and I would like to urge our fans to buy tickets and to come and watch the games. We are really looking forward to playing at home in front of crowds, and for me personally to come back to what was formerly home for me in Pretoria."
SA Rugby president Mark Alexander has also weighed in, saying its very important for the local games to have full stadiums.
“But that does not mean that we should no longer practice safe social distancing. We have to be responsible in the stadiums, and we would like to convey that message to our spectators as we look forward to an exciting and tough series against Wales.”
