SA Rugby director of rugby Rassie Erasmus says the 43-player Springbok squad to take on the British & Irish Lions tour will be announced next Saturday.
The Lions series will kick off in Johannesburg with three matches against provincial opposition before moving to Cape Town for two more warm-up matches before the first Test at Cape Town Stadium on Saturday 24 July.
"The squad we will be announced next week Saturday, it will be a squad of forty-five, but Covid-19 might change it," says Erasmus.
"We are going to announce the squad both be SA A-side, we will be playing British & Irish Lions A-side and Springbok side and will be announced as a squad of one next Saturday”
The tour by the combined four nations of England, Ireland, Scotland, and Wales is held every four years and alternate between Australia and New Zealand and South Africa.
Erasmus says they are in talks with government to include fans for the upcoming matches.
"We are hoping with government sees that we are reliable when it comes to that and maybe with things changes with Covid-19 so quickly up and down that things might change with twenty-five percent even if we go to big stadiums because it will be a good crowd.
"We are preparing for the worst, which is no crowd, but we are trying to show that as sports are so supportive and follow all regulations and our leadership have been in one meeting where we have been crying, asking and giving motivations, but I don't know how confident we can be that being successful."
