Day of drama sees Currie Cup semi-finalists secure spots
Updated | By Valerie Robinson
The Golden Lions, Free State XV and the Sharks qualified for the semi-finals of the Currie Cup on a day of high drama on Saturday.
Despite being the only team to have qualified for the semi-finals and topping the table going into the final round of round-robin games, Griquas could not secure a win against the Lions.
Griquas captain Kyle Steyn blamed ill-discipline for the 26-27 loss in Kimberley.
The Cheetahs were victorious against Western Province in a tight encounter in Bloemfontein, winning the game 38-33.
Despite a fierce fightback the Blue Bulls lost 40 - 48 to the Sharks, eliminating the men from Pretoria from this year’s tournament.
