CSA drops all charges against Proteas coach Mark Boucher

Boucher faced several charges of racism emanating from a report by the Social Justice & Nation Building Commission.

The commission made adverse findings against Boucher and a formal disciplinary hearing was recommended to decide on his future.

But on Monday, cricket’s governing body admitted there is no basis to sustain any disciplinary complaint against Boucher.

This follows former cricketer Paul Adams's post on social media confirming that he will not testify at Boucher's disciplinary hearing.

Boucher had previously officially apologised to Adams - while other witnesses did not appear.

CSA board chairperson Lawson Naidoo says the decision to withdraw the charges will allow the focus to return to the cricket field.

 “The SJN process was never only or even mainly about the conduct of individuals. More fundamentally, it was about providing a platform for persons involved in cricket to share their personal experiences of racial and gender discrimination and to allow for a careful consideration of the systemic measures necessary to redress these issues going forward for the future.

“The SJN process has certainly achieved that and the board is confident that the current team enjoys a culture of mutual respect and inclusivity.

 Naidoo says CSA will soon announce more measures aimed at fostering inclusivity in the game.

“The systemic learnings from the SJN process will provide valuable input into the values, behaviours, culture and strategy of Cricket in SA going forward and we thank all participants for their contributions in this regard.”
