Chiefs have 'slight advantage'

Kaizer Chiefs have a 'slight advantage' ahead of their mouth-watering Soweto Derby clash with Orlando Pirates on Tuesday. That's according to Bucs coach Roger De Sa who was speaking at a press conference earlier today.

 

 

 

De Sa's team were held to a goalless draw by Al Ahly in an energy soaking CAF Champions League match on Sunday.

 

"Yes, Chiefs do have a slight advantage heading into the game because they had an extra day's rest,"  De Sa said.

 

"We have to do our best and try to recover the players as quickly as we can.

 

 "We have a goal advantage going into the match which I hope we will keep."

 

 

His counterpart agreed with him but said the advantage counts for nothing if they don't put Pirates under pressure.

 

"It is an advantage to have an extra day of rest, there's no doubt about it. I wouldn't like to be in Roger's shoes right now but what counts is how we use the advantage. We have to make them feel that they are a little bit weary," Baxter said.

 

The Buccaneers go into the game with a 1-0 lead from the first leg. The luxury of an away goal has put them firmly in control for the showdown set for Orlando Stadium.

 

The game is sold-out and the PSL has warned fans wIthout tickets not to come to the stadium. Kick-off is 15:00.

 

In the other semi-final, Bidvest Wits will look overturn a 2-goal cushion after going down 4-2 to Platinum Stars in the first leg. The final will be played on September 28 at the Moses Mabhida Stadium.
