Boks bounce back in IRB rankings

South Africa moved one place up the International Rugby Board’s world rankings following their 46-6 victory over Samoa at the weekend.

The Springboks dropped to sixth place following their humiliating loss to Japan while Wales was promoted to second spot after they secured a 28-25 win over Rugby World Cup hosts England on Saturday.


This marked the best ranking in the history of Welsh rugby as they leapfrogged both Australia and England who have dropped to sixth place behind South Africa and Ireland.


Australia had banked a 53-3 win against Uruguay and are ranked third.


Meanwhile the Springboks’ opponents this Saturday, Scotland, returned to the top 10 after their 39-16 triumph over the USA on Sunday.
