Bloemfontein set to host Currie Cup final
The Currie Cup final will be a feline affair after the Free State Cheetahs and the Golden Lions booked their spots in this year’s showcase game.
The Lions battled past Griquas 334-19 in a hard-fought game in Johannesburg in the first semi-final.
The Cheetahs made an impressive comeback in the second half of their semi-final against the Sharks in Bloemfontein.
The score stood at 20-11 at half time with the Sharks leading, but the Cheetahs managed to score 40 points in the last 40 minutes for a 51-30 victory.

Cheetahs coach Franco Smith says he has been heavily criticised for making changes late in games, but this is proof that rugby is not just played during one half.
“I think the boys must be proud they showed taking this team forward into the pro 14, they have that ability…. Rugby is not played in the first half. Last week a lot of people criticised me because I picked the two props and brought them on later. Its only tradition that says you must start with your preferred players. It’s not like that you must play to win.”
