Anderson's Aussie Open is over
Updated | By Jacasport
South Africa's top-ranked men's tennis player Kevin Anderson has been knocked out in the opening round of the 2016 Australian Open in Melbourne.
Anderson, who late last year reached a career high 10th in the ATP World Rankings, was forced to retire hurt in his first round encounter against the American Rajeev Ram.
Anderson, seeded 11th in the year's first Grand Slam tournament, was trailing by two sets to one and three games to love in the third, when he withdrew.
Anderson is still battling to shake off a nagging knee injury which forced him to pull out of the Chennai Open in India in the first week of January.
