Zuma: Situation in Zim will become clear soon
President Jacob Zuma says it is too early to make a call on Zimbabwe's political future.
He was answering questions in the National Council of Provinces.
"There are developments in Zimbabwe that are ongoing. Anyone who makes any tight conclusion as to what is going to happen in Zimbabwe, will be a politician who does not calculate," Zuma said. "Because you don't want to speculate. You want to see what is happening and take the appropriate kind of conclusion and decision.
He believes the situation in Zimbabwe should become clearer soon.
"Those who participate positively in the global affairs will be able to say what they can say as things become clear. The matters have just begun so there couldn't be a very firm proposal on what must be done."
He will head to Botswana on Thursday for a Southern African Development Commission (SADC) meeting to discuss the situation in Zimbabwe.
Meanwhile, Jacaranda FM's Zimbabwean correspondent Zenzele Ndebele reports that Mugabe is currently in negotiations with the military.
"There is a priest who is facilitating the discussions together with the South African envoy. So far we hear that Mugabe is reluctant to step down saying what has happened is illegal. He says he was elected by the people. We also hear that the army wants Emmerson Mnangwagwa to come back into government and the party and Mugabe is reportedly unwilling to reinstate him."
