City Power has blamed vandalism for a three-day long power cut in several areas in the south of Johannesburg.

The power utility said the outages are due to the vandalism of infrastructure.
City Power spokesperson Isaac Mangena said attempted cable theft saw the burning of five medium cables.
“The tunnel is full of water which makes repair work difficult. Therefore, we are pumping the water before we can commence. Five distributors will remain off until the cables are replaced.
“The affected areas include Tulisa Park, Steeldale, Electron, Moffat View, Unigray, Elands Park.
“Unfortunately, City Power is extremely worried about the increasing incidence of vandalism and cable fifth of our infrastructure and appeal to the SAPS to assist in arresting suspects.”
