Stage 6 load shedding to persist through weekend
Updated | By Sibahle Motha
Eskom has announced that it will continue implementing stage 6 load shedding throughout the coming weekend.

The power utility said on Thursday that this is due to the fact that it had depleted its reserves during this week's cold snap.
Spokesperson Daphne Mokwena says there have also been failures at additional generating units since Sunday.
"Stage 6 load shedding will continue to be implemented over the weekend to replenish the depleted emergency reserves to permit a possible reduction in the stages of load shedding in the coming week."

Mokwena says that a generating unit each at Grootvlei, Hendrina, Lethabo, Tutuka, two generating units at Arnot, Matla and three generating units at Kriel power stations have been taken out of service since Sunday.
There has also been a delay in the return to service of a generating unit at Kendal and two at Tutuka power stations.
"Eskom teams are working tirelessly to return these generating units to service. It is anticipated that eight generating units will be returned to service in the next few days,” Mokwena said.
