Sigh of relief as Post Office resolves glitches

The Post Office experienced some difficulties in the payment of social grants.
The South African Post Office (SAPO) has confirmed all glitches that prevented grant recipients from accessing their money have been resolved.
"Our system is up and running," SAPO COO Lindiwe Kwele said Wednesday.
She apologised on behalf of the Post Office for the inconvenience, assuring grant recipients that "we are here to serve them".
The Post Office suffered a number of glitches when grant recipients tried to access their grants at the end of June.
Beneficiaries queueing to access their grants were sent home empty-handed as the databases could not handle the traffic volumes.
"We have actually upgraded the link of our Integrated Grant Payment Solution (IGPS)... to a fibre to increase the capacity," explained Kwele.
SAPO's Bank Identity Number was also not registered by all merchants - which means those using merchants could not necessarily access their funds.
Kwele said the systems stabilised on Tuesday afternoon and that "we were able to process all the transactions."
