Security guard injured in Kempton Park heist

A security guard was shot in the face during a cash-in-transit robbery at the Birchgate SPAR in Kempton Park on Monday morning.

Police spokesperson Brenda Muridili says the security guard was collecting money when he was accosted by one of three armed suspects.

“It is alleged that he was shot in the face by one of three armed suspects as he was about to leave the store.
“The suspects fled the scene with undisclosed amount of money and shot at the armoured vehicle while fleeing the scene in an Opel Corsa and VW Polo.”
The security guard was airlifted to hospital.
No arrests have been made.
