Second consecutive day with fewer than 1000 new Covid-19 cas

South Africa has experienced a second day in a row with fewer than 1 000 Covid-19 cases having been identified in the 24 hours leading up to Tuesday evening.

Statistics reported by Health Minister Dr Zweli Mkhize show that only 856 new Covid-19 cases were identified in the country in just one day.
This brings the cumulative number of cases to 1 514 815 since the beginning of the pandemic in 2020.
A further 194 related deaths have been reported.

”Eastern Cape 8, Free State 29, Gauteng 43, Kwa-Zulu Natal 80, Limpopo 15, Mpumalanga 0, North West 0, Northern Cape 7 and Western Cape 12 new deaths,” reads the statement.
The cumulative number of deaths in the country stands at 50 271.
The country’s recovery has increased to 1 433 320, bringing the recovery rate to 94.6%.
