RTMC searching for parents of 8-year-old driver
The Road Traffic Management Corporation (RTMC) has launched an investigation into a video where an 8-year-old child can be seen driving an SUV in a residential area in Vereeniging.
The video of the child has gone viral on social media.
RTMC spokesperson Simon Zwane says the adults, who also feature in the video, should know better than allowing a child to drive a vehicle.
“We think it’s highly irresponsible conduct for any parents to give such a young child a car to drive around, particularly this time of the year when there is a high rate of accidents involving pedestrians.
“We are following up on the leads and we have sent our officers to go and investigate this matter and meet the family.”
